EMILY WILLIAMS
About
Australia first met platinum-selling recording artist Emily Williams in 2005’s ‘Australian Idol,’ where she won the hearts of the nation with her phenomenal talent and true powerhouse voice. Soon after Idol, Emily joined the all-girl group ‘Young Divas’ who enjoyed mammoth success with huge hits such as ‘This Time I Know It’s For Real,’ ‘Happening All Over Again,’ ‘Turn Me Loose’ and ‘Searching.’ After two mega studio albums, countless awards and following their fifth full-scale national tour, the girls decided to disband and pursue their solo careers.
Emily launched her eagerly awaited solo career with the dance track ‘Spellbound’ in late 2010, which brought yet another nod – this time a nomination for ‘Australian Female Artist of The Year.’ Emily’s second solo release ‘You’re Mine’ hinted at a new musical direction; this soulful single premiered live on channel 7 to rave reviews, the track’s soft melody and killer notes confirmed Emily’s title as
‘Queen of the high C’s.’
Soon after the success of ‘You’re Mine’, Emily heard news of the devastation in her native country New Zealand. Emily quickly stepped into the studio to record a heartfelt ballad ‘Never Alone.’ This power ballad was set to bring hope to the thousands devastated by the natural disaster and of course get much-needed funds into Christchurch through the NZ Red Cross appeal with all proceeds from the release being donated to the cause.
Deciding to release her first album was a big step for Emily,
‘I wanted the sound to be true to me, real songs written by me, from the heart but definitely built for the dance floor.’
“I decided on the title ‘Uncovered’ as I feel that this is the first time the world has seen me totally raw. I’m not in front of a band or with the girls and I’m not hiding behind anything,
it’s just me up front and personal and I love it!”
“Uncovered” was launched on 10th February 2012 to stunning reviews and was followed by a high profile 25 date national tour plus major television performances and a major Australian PR tour.
What followed was the release of the urban diva’s hot new track ‘Get It,’ and in pure Emily style, when the video clip was released it went viral and achieved over 178,000 views in under 10 days!
The track was launched nationally on the 5th of April ‘13 in conjunction with a national tour alongside Geordie Shore's Jay and Digital Damage as part of 'The Epic Party Crew'. The infectious tune was accompanied by a full remix package with offerings from Australia, USA, UK & NZ.
Having headlined premium venues including the Sydney Opera house and entertainment centres on numerous occasions it was only a matter of time before Emily took things international. Emily soon went on to perform to a new audience - the UK, France, Ireland, Italy and the UAE were all on the list whilst touring her UK smash hit 'Can't Get Enough.' a duet with UK artist Leroy!
Within the same year, Emily collaborated again, this time with Gaz from MTV’s Geordie Shore, DJ Olabean, and UK X-factor’s boy band sensation ‘The Risk’. The single, ‘Party Like a Rockstar (Up Your Game)’ became the second most downloaded track through Christmas week in the UK!
After wrapping yet another national tour, Emily released singles ‘The Way It Is’ which hit #7 in Australia and ‘Get Your Life.’
Having performed over 120 shows in 2016, 2017 saw Emily hit the road again but this time internationally as she received yet another nomination for ‘Favourite Australian Female Artist.
Emily is currently working on new material due for release in early 2018 and will make her big screen debut in the Universal Pictures film BOAR!
